A crib mattress replacement budget begins with why the current mattress cannot be used. An unidentified mattress, poor fit, damage or loss of firmness can require a different purchase. Changing colors or buying a newer marketing label is a separate preference, not evidence that a sound mattress has reached a universal replacement date.
This guide compares published U.S. manufacturer prices checked in October 2026. It keeps full-size crib mattresses separate from model-specific travel replacements and distinguishes regular prices from a temporary membership offer. The replacement must work with the crib’s instructions; price alone cannot establish that compatibility.

At regular prices, the difference between PELLEPLUTT and JÄTTETRÖTT is $94. Between PELLEPLUTT and KRUMMELUR it is $24, and between KRUMMELUR and SKÖNAST it is $20. Compare the chosen construction and care instructions behind those gaps rather than treating the most expensive listing as safer by definition.
The membership offer can change the cash bill, but it has an end date and supply condition. Someone replacing a mattress after October 12 should not assume the $60 starting price remains available. Keep the regular price on a longer-term worksheet until an eligible purchase at the promotional price is confirmed.
Full-size and travel mattresses are different purchases
The listed 27½-by-52-inch models are full-size crib examples. A portable crib, bassinet or play yard may use a different size, shape, thickness and support structure. Matching the approximate length is not enough to approve a substitute.
Guava’s Lotus replacement mattress is listed at $79.99 for the Lotus travel crib. Its page was marked Coming Back Soon when checked. That price is a replacement reference, not a promise that an order can currently be filled. Contact the manufacturer about supply before relying on it for a trip.
CPSC’s crib-mattress FAQ distinguishes full-size mattresses, original mattresses for smaller cribs, and aftermarket mattresses for play yards and smaller cribs. Its safety requirements address more than softness or a product name. The travel crib cost comparison keeps the transport and destination-sleep purchase separate from replacing a full-size mattress at home.
Condition and identity decide whether reuse is possible
Identify the mattress model and the crib it will be used in before comparing replacement prices. Check the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning, fit, thickness and permitted use. Missing labels or an unknown model can prevent those checks even when the surface appears clean.
Examine damage, exposed springs, sagging and changes to the cover or core. A replacement cover is not necessarily a replacement for a damaged mattress. Cleaning can address dirt only through the manufacturer’s approved method; it does not restore a broken support structure or prove that the mattress remains firm enough for infant sleep.
For a used mattress, keep purchase cash and required repairs separate. A hypothetical $20 asking price plus a $35 approved replacement cover totals $55 before delivery. Those are assumed inputs, not a quoted secondhand price or a promise that a cover is available for the model. If the underlying mattress cannot be safely used, a cheaper cover does not make that $55 arrangement an alternative to a sound mattress.
Replacement cash includes the required fitted setup
Add any required fitted sheet, delivery and tax to the mattress price once. Do not count a sheet in a crib bundle and then add the same sheet again as a replacement accessory. An existing sheet can avoid a new purchase only if it fits the selected mattress as instructed.
For a transparent example, combine a $75 regular-price mattress with an assumed $15 fitted sheet and $20 delivery charge. The subtotal is $110 before tax. If the sheet and delivery are already covered, the added cash can instead remain $75 before tax. The $15 and $20 inputs are worksheet allowances, not IKEA’s quoted fees.
The baby gear budget explains how to record the mattress separately from the frame. Replacing a mattress does not necessarily mean replacing a crib that is still usable, but the crib safety standards guide helps check that the frame itself is not the unresolved problem.
Firm, flat sleep does not require extra padding
AAP recommends a firm, flat, non-inclined sleep surface meeting current safety standards, with a fitted sheet and no soft objects or loose bedding. Adding a topper to make a mattress feel more comfortable is not part of that recommended setup. Extra padding can also change the relationship between the sleep surface and the crib’s sides.
A model described as breathable, cooling or washable still needs to meet the sleep requirements and fit the equipment. Do not pay for a feature as if it were a guarantee against sleep-related death. A caregiver’s impression that the baby’s bed should feel like an adult mattress is not a reason to soften it.
Use only the mattress arrangement permitted by the crib or play yard instructions, with the required firmness and fit. Ask the manufacturer about an uncertain replacement and the baby’s clinician about individual sleep-health concerns. Keep pillows, extra mattresses and loose bedding out of the infant sleep space.
Questions people ask
What does a full-size replacement cost in these examples?
The named IKEA regular-price examples are $75, $99, $119 and $169 before tax, delivery and fitted sheets. The lower displayed membership prices have a stated October 12, 2026 end date or earlier supply limit.
Can a full-size mattress replace a travel crib mattress?
Do not assume so. The travel crib or play yard has model-specific requirements for size, support, fit and thickness. Use only the permitted replacement arrangement.
Is the Lotus replacement available for $79.99?
That is its published price, but the page was marked Coming Back Soon at the October 2026 check. Confirm supply with Guava before planning an immediate replacement.
Does a new cover fix a sagging mattress?
No. A cover does not repair a damaged or insufficiently firm core. Check identity, condition and permitted cleaning or replacement with the manufacturer.
